
Welcome to Andy's Organic Market. My name is Andris (Andy) and this is my story. My passion for food started from an early age as a child in my Mother's Latvian Kitchen. Our house was always filled with the smells of yeast rising, apricot jam cooking on the stove top and all sorts of home made sweets and treats that my Mother would make to feed and satisfy our never ending hunger. I am number 5 of 6 children so cooking for all of us was a very demanding task.
I started cooking myself from around the age of 10 years old and by 11 I was assisting one of my Primary School Teacher's to cook and serve the food at his catering functions and get paid for it! At 12 I was making Lemon Tortes and throwing Dinner Parties for adults with Strawberry Brandy Snaps for dessert.

I have worked in the Hotel, Casino and Food and Beverage industry for almost 38 years. In that time my passion for cooking and good food has increased exponentially. In 2013 I took this passion to a new level and auditioned for MKR and Masterchef. I didn't get past the first stage but the experience has given me a clearer idea of where I want my passion to take me. I get great satisfaction out of cooking something that my family, friends and neighbours wouldn't expect and even more joy when they tell me how much they liked it. My hope and prayer is that I can spread a little more joy and happiness to everyone with my home made and home grown treats.
